GrangeRN: Nursing Education & Beyond

MEET DR. GRANGER

Hi, I’m Dr. Granger. This is the short version.

I talk a lot. I text in dissertations. I’ve never met a stranger, and my brain has apparently never met an off switch.

I love learning, I love projects, and I get ridiculously excited about helping someone figure something out. Give me a new idea and I’m already thinking about what I could make, how I could use it, and who I could share it with. You can see why I needed a website!

Nursing, teaching, and a whole lot of enthusiasm

I’m a registered nurse and Certified Emergency Nurse with a PhD in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing education. My clinical background includes emergency care in trauma centers, pediatric emergency departments, and community settings. My work in education includes university teaching, simulation, curriculum development, and nursing program leadership.

I’ve taught across subjects including health assessment, critical care, pediatrics, mental health, research, and informatics. My doctoral research explored nurses’ decisions about human trafficking screening, and I’m continually drawn to questions about clinical judgment, technology, and how people learn.

Give me a complicated nursing concept and I want to unpack it, draw it, explain the why, and find a way to make it click. Possibly explain it twice. I did warn you about the talking.

I take the nursing seriously. I also believe there’s plenty of room for personality, useful pictures, a good analogy, and some laughter while we learn. Understanding the basics matters. So does knowing what to do with them.

Off the syllabus

I have two speeds: 100 mph and off. When I’m not teaching, you can find me chasing one of my four kids, watching baseball with my husband, or binge-reading the latest novel. And yes, binge-reading counts as the off setting.

All these ideas needed somewhere to go

I started GrangeRN because I wanted a place to share my resources, passions, and knowledge with everyone. There is so much I love learning and creating, and sharing it is a huge part of the fun!

Whether you’re working your way through nursing school, teaching future nurses, or following your own curiosity, I’m glad you found your way here. This is where my nursing knowledge, educator brain, and seemingly endless project list get to come together.

My favorite part? Helping you get there.

My ultimate thrill in life is helping people achieve their dreams. That might mean graduating from nursing school, landing a dream job, or helping my daughter master her double pirouette. Different goals, same enormous excitement when the hard work starts coming together.

That’s the heart behind GrangeRN. I want to share what I know, keep learning, and help people move toward something that matters to them.

Come on in. There’s a lot I want to share!
